The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between aspirations and life satisfaction with an emphasis on comparing the Islamic model of the function of aspirations and self-determination theory in the field of aspirations. The research method was based on library and field data, and the sample included 250 students selected from the students of Allameh Tabataba'i University by the convenience sampling. The tools for collecting the data were the Islamic primary sources in the library section, and Aspiration Index (AI) scale (Grouzet et al., 2005) and life satisfaction questionnaire (Diener et al., 1985) in the field section. Reviewing the sources showed that there are at least three ideas about the relationship between aspirations and life satisfaction in the psychological sources: relationship, lack of relationship, and dual relationship based on the internal-external aspirations. According to self-determination theory, the internal aspirations have positive effect and the external ones have negative effect on life satisfaction. The Islamic model of the function of aspirations consists of two subsystems of reason-oriented approach and ignorance-oriented avoidance, and acts by three processes of the expansion of Amal, the shortage of Amal, and the length of Amal. The relationship between aspirations and life satisfaction is a dual process; in the first process, mediated by the construct of reason, aspirations have an increasing role in life satisfaction, and in the second process, mediated by the construct of ignorance, aspirations have a decreasing role in life satisfaction. In the field section, the results confirm the Islamic view on the relationship between aspirations and life satisfaction.

This research based on an Islamic approach was conducted with the purpose of introducing the methodology of qualitative analysis of the content of religious texts and its function in psychological researches. The methodology of this research is descriptive-analytical and is for tool developing. The methodology of qualitative analysis of the content of religious texts is derived from linguistic studies, semantic field theory, and efforts made in understanding religious texts (literary, fundamental, and interpretative), and it has one basic principle and nine sub-principles which are implemented in four phases (systematic observation, content immersion, data formatting, final review, and reporting). Each phase contains several steps. The basis of the methodology of qualitative analysis of the content of religious texts is an active textual processing in which the researcher analyzes textual data (concepts and the statements of religious texts) to the extent that he/she reaches the general constructs of meaning. The active textual processing means a practice by which the data are collected, analyzed, classified, and formed in a new way. The main purpose of this research is that the researcher understands psychological inferences through the concepts and statements of religious texts; thus, the textual processing begins with general descriptions and analyses, and results into deeper, more complicated, abstract, and semantic analyses.

The instrument used was Diener satisfaction with life scale. At first, gratitude-based hope training package was developed based on Islamic Hope Therapy Intervention by Salehi (2016) and by adding some gratitude techniques that were based on Islamic sources. Then experts were consulted to evaluate content validity and content validity index. Afterwards, the training package was conducted on participants using a single-subject multiple baseline design. Data were analyzed using graphs and visual analysis. The training package was approved by experts and its conduct feasibility was determined. Intervention also increased life satisfaction, which had stable progress and changes were maintained in a one-month follow-up. Therefore, Islamic gratitude-based hope training package can be used to increase the life satisfaction of young girls in deprived neighborhoods of Qom.

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of an integrated monotheistic treatment on improving three components of patience, hope, and existential anxiety among depressed women, because the depression is one of the most common mental disorders among women, and the components of patience and hope play an important role in relieving this disorder. Research design is a quasi-experimental type with a pretest-posttest and a control group. The sample consists of 40 women referring to the counseling center of Islamic Azad University in Bandarabas who were recognized as depressed ones according to Beck depression inventory. They were randomly placed in two test and control groups. To gather the data, the inventories of Beck depression, hope, patience, and existential anxiety were applied. The members of the test group underwent an integrated monotheistic treatment during 12 sessions of individual counseling. The pretest-posttest data were analyzed by the analysis of covariance. According to this analysis, after the intervention, there was a significant difference between the test and control groups in terms of the variables of patience (F=376.37, P=0.0001), hope (F=22.91, P=0.0001), and existential anxiety (F=27.37, P=0.0001). Regarding these results, it can be claimed that the integrated monotheistic treatment has affected the improvement of the components of patience, hope, and existential anxiety among depressed women.

Today, human beings still suffer from unknown anxiety in the depths of their existence in spite of the significant advances in the field of mental health and treatment techniques for mental disorders. The present research was conducted with the aim of investigating the efficiency of a treatment program of religious interventions in order to reduce anxiety, and with taking advantage of Islamic effective mentions and prayers. Research design is an experimental type with a pretest-posttest and a control group on the waiting list. The population was all male prisoners in Qom Central Prison; thus, 34 prisoners were selected from those with higher anxiety than normal, and were randomly placed in two test and control groups. Research tools included Cattle anxiety scale, a training protocol, and an Islamic mention program related to anxiety, and they were used during seven training sessions and 40-day practice, and its content validity was examined by 12 experts of Islam and psychology. According to the analysis of covariance, the average of anxiety scores of the test group compared to the control group in the posttest stage has significantly decreased (P<0.001). The results of this research showed that the mention of God relieves and decreases the anxiety. The mention program can be used as an effective factor in reducing generalized anxiety, and the the protocol of this program can be applied as a complementary treatment for anxiety disorders.

In family, one of the most important expectations from parents is to educate children in accordance with moral, social, religious, and cultural norms. In Islamic teachings, there are minimum and maximum expectations about educating children. The key question is: what advantages do parents achieve in being aware of parenting process, and what are minimum expectations of Islam from parents in parenting process? This study attempts to explain the importance of being aware of parenting process from the perspective of Islam and psychology, and to extract the expectations of Islam from parents about parenting. This study applied a descriptive-analytical and Ijtihadi method. Thinking deeply and applying Ijtihad in Islamic and educational-psychological teachings results into a conclusion that parents have different expectations about parenting. The minimum (not maximum) expectations of Islam in parenting process are as follows: 1. the importance of responsible interaction with children; 2. the observance of priorities in parenting; 3. taking advantage of smart encouragement and punishment; 4. putting an emphasis on cognitive change; 5. strengthening self-control in children; 6. appropriate negligence; 7. intimate behavior with children; 8. the observance of alignment with biological and psychological changes; 9. being tolerant of children.

Over recent decades, many researches have been done on "resilience" and "patience". The question is whether these two variables have one construct or have two different constructs; what similarities and differences they have. This study was a qualitative (analytical) research conducted with a review method, which was a combination of systematic review, content analysis, and literature review. The data were collected from books and articles. The results demonstrated that the patience includes the resilience and beyond. In terms of conceptual constructs, the patience includes the avoidance of anger, the avoidance of lusts, forbearance, perseverance, waiting, and the openness of mind; while, the conceptual constructs of the resilience include tolerance, adaption, return, compatibility, capacity increase, and change and reformation. In such manner, emotional restraint, forbearance, perseverance, waiting, and perfection are the process of patience growth. Therefore, it can be concluded that the patience, as a model in Islamic lifestyle, can be used in prevention and intervention, as well as human growth and evolution, especially in interventions related to crisis. This approach can be a good alternative to emotion-oriented and resilience views.
