Study of the Relationship between Sport Ethics and Religious Beliefs as an Element of Spiritual Intelligence

Abstract

This study aims at investigating the relationship between religious beliefs as an element of spiritual intelligence and sport ethics among the talented athletes of different sport disciplines (water polo, handball, basketball, and karate) of Isfahan Clubs in year 2010. The descriptive correlational method of research was employed in this investigation. A sample volume of 168 talented athletes were chosen, using "accessible" sampling method. Two author-made questionnaires (i.e. Spiritual Intelligence Questionnaire and Sport Ethics Questionnaire with reliability coefficient of 0.97 and 0.92 respectively, consisting of 8 items including "trust in God") were also used in this research. Data analysis was performed using statistical method of multi-step regression. According to the regression analysis, there is a significant and positive relation between religious beliefs as an element of spiritual intelligence and sport ethics.
