Anger is an emotion that has negative and destructive consequences and it has long been the focus of intellectuals' attention. In Islamic narrative texts, effects of out-of-control anger, physiological and behavioral symptoms, and the detrimental effects of anger on family and social relationships have been explained in details.
The present research aims to study the principles and methods of anger management for families based on Islamic viewpoint and psychological research. We discussed the literature available in Islamic and psychological texts to examine the concept of anger and its consequences on interpersonal and family relationships. Also, a body of research was conducted to study factors influencing anger, effects of anger on interpersonal relationships, and proper methods for controlling anger on the basis of religious teachings and modern psychology.
