Abstract

The purpose of this study was to development of a model of marital satisfaction based on self-differentiation with the mediating role of family boundaries. The design of the current research is of a descriptive-correlation type. For this purpose, 366 couples from Tehran city were selected using available sampling and were asked the Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire with an Islamic approach (Jodeiri and Janbozorgi, 2009), the list of self-differentiation (Skowron, 2000) and the Family Boundaries Questionnaire (houshyari et al., 2021) answered. Data analysis was done using structural equation modeling. SPSS and AMOS software were also used for data analysis. The evaluation of the hypothetical research model using fit indices showed that the hypothetical model fits the measurement model (CFI = 0.95, NFI = 0.92, RMSEA = 0.07). The results of the research showed that its differentiation with The mediation of family boundaries has a significant effect on marital satisfaction at the level of P<0.05. Self-differentiation directly and indirectly through family boundaries is effective in marital satisfaction. Therefore, in order to improve marital satisfaction, intervention in family differentiation and boundaries in couples is needed. It can be important.
