Abstract

This study aimed to introduce a pattern for adjusting the interest in Islam (based on the concept of piety) as a cognitive-emotional pattern and to make comparisons between that and the cognitive-behavioral therapy in reducing the anxiety in men patients. In this pattern, the interest in world is a function of the interest in hereafter and living in the world is an introduction of living in hereafter and the pattern knows the independent interest in world as a damage. The pattern was designed with the help of Islamic texts and formed in a therapy program for clinical interventions. After having a clinical interview with the patients, who suffered from generalized anxiety disorder, were selected. The Cattle anxiety questionnaire was used for the pre-test, post-test, and tracking. The selected patients were divided into three groups. Two groups received their therapy program for 8 weeks and were compared with a control group. ANOVA with repeated measure was employed for comparing these three groups. The findings showed that both therapy methods had some effects on reducing the anxiety, but the influence of the pattern was meaningfully more than the effect of the cognitive-behavioral therapy
