Methodology is the major research strategy that every researcher needs in choosing a method and conducting research. Accordingly, methodology includes the principles and criteria that guide and manage a research. The present study was developed with the aim of explaining methodology in Islamic psychology. The research method was descriptive-analytical. Information was collected by referring to library sources and reliable documents, and after classification, it was analyzed.The findings of the research showed that methodology in contemporary psychological approaches is a function of the three paradigms of positivism, interpretation, and criticism. However, methodology in Islamic psychology follows the theoretical framework of rational realism. The findings also showed that, considering such a theoretical framework, methodology with an Islamic approach has the following principles: 1. Using different methods to discover the realities under study and not exclusive to a particular method. 2. Using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods to understand all dimensions of human existence as opposed to exclusiveness in quantitative, qualitative, or any other exclusive method. 3- The authority of reason in establishing all methods and final confirmation of findings in various methods.
