This research aimed to study comparatively ethical virtues from the viewpoints of positive psychology and Nahj al-Balagha. The research methodology was the qualitative content analysis; thus, the recent resources of positive psychology were analyzed and sixth ethical virtues including courage, wisdom, justice, humanity, restraint, and excellence were selected and then the Imam Ali's ideas in Nahj al-Balagha and the viewpoint of positive psychology were comparatively analyzed about those sixth ethical virtues. The results showed that those two viewpoints are most similar in having comprehensive approach toward ethical virtues and the most difference between them is that the viewpoint of positive psychology is human-based and takes care of individual-social well-being but the viewpoint of Nahj al-Balagha is God-based and takes care of the excellence of spirit, the relationship with God, and ethical virtues
