Abstract

The research aimed to study the comparison between the effectiveness of Islamic grief therapy and group grief therapy program on the behavioral and emotional problems of adolescent mournful girls and their symptoms. This quasi-experimental research was done using the control group, pre-test and post-test designs, and three month follow-up. 30 mournful students were selected by convenience sampling and with the help of Mobarakeh education and then randomly placed in the two test groups and the control group. 7 sessions of Islamic grief therapy which are designed according to the qualitative study were performed for the first group and 7 sessions of group grief therapy which are designed by foundation of war and children were performed for the second group. The results showed that the post-test and the follow-up of each two test groups are meaningfully different from the control group. At the end of intervention period, the Islamic grief therapy had more effectiveness in comparison with the group grief therapy based on each three measurement indicators (P<0.001). The research findings supported this idea that cultural capabilities and religious teachings would help increase the effectiveness of therapy.
