The Investigation into the Effectiveness of Group Counseling by Means of Monotheistic Integrated Therapy on the Male Prisoners' Adaptation

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to answer the question: do group counseling by means of monotheistic integrated therapy effects on the male prisoners' adaptation? This experimental research was conducted with the help of a control group among male prisoners in the central prison, in Shahrekord, in 1391. Via multistage sampling, 40 people were selected and randomly placed in the two groups of 20; the test and control groups. Bell's adjustment inventory was applied as a screening tool. Then, program of group counseling by means of monotheistic integrated therapy was performed on the members of test group during 12 sessions of one hour and a half. After therapy intervention, post-test and one month later, follow-up test were done for each two groups. The repeated measures analysis of variances was employed for data analyzing. The results showed that there is a significant difference between the mean score of adaptation of the two groups in the post-test and follow-up stages (P<0.002). Therefore, it can be said that group counseling by means of monotheistic integrated therapy effects on the male prisoners' adaptation
